Advanced Dental Technology Wilmington
High-Quality Dentistry Utilizing the Latest Technology

Dental technology may not be something that crosses your mind when you’re looking for a reliable dentist in Wilmington; however, employing modern instruments can not only make your visit and treatments more comfortable, but also yield better, longer-lasting results. Dr. Lundgren utilizes digital impressions, advanced digital imaging, and a soft tissue laser to make treatments, from simple to complex, more streamlined and precise. We invite you to read more about these advanced dental technologies below.
Digital Dental Impressions

Using our iTero digital impression system, our team is able to get rid of uncomfortable, gag-inducing putty. Instead, we can move a small wand around your mouth to capture a detailed 3D blueprint of your teeth and gums that can be digitally stored for easy transfer to our dental laboratory. The process has less room for error and is much more comfortable for you—making your visit more enjoyable and streamlined!
Soft Tissue Laser

Our PerioLase® soft tissue laser is most popularly used for laser gum disease treatment. It emits a small, concentrated beam of light from the tip of it that can effortlessly remove severely infected or damaged gum tissue and kill harmful oral bacteria on-contact. The best part is, no scalpel is necessary, and the laser is able to cauterize the tissue as it removes it with surgical precision, minimizing the risk of post-operative infection, bleeding, and general discomfort.
CT/Cone Beam Scanner

Unlike digital X-rays, which capture 2D images, the cone beam CT scanner creates a 3D detailed blueprint of the entire facial structure, allowing Dr. Lundgren to view the location of the sinuses and facial nerves, jawbone density, and much more. Typically, we use our CBCT scanner to help plan more complex procedures, like TMJ or root canal treatment, to ensure the best outcomes.
Intraoral Camera

Another means of diagnostic imaging that we use is our intraoral camera. It’s a small, wand-like device with a camera on the tip of it that can capture live video footage and still images, allowing our team to take a closer, more detailed look at a hard-to-reach area of the mouth. We can also put these images up on our chairside monitor to provide you with a visual resource to better understand any diagnoses we make or treatments we may recommend.
